Turmeric is trending big time. You’ll find it in lattes, golden milk, immunity shots, energy bars, and smoothies. A member of the ginger family, turmeric has been used medicinally for years around the globe. Turmeric’s main claim to fame is its anti-inflammatory potency. Several studies have found that the key protective compound in turmeric, called Curcumin, reduces inflammation, and its effects are on par with some anti-inflammatory medications.
A & A Organic Farms has been distributing organic fresh turmeric since 2012. “It’s become a very popular item in recent years, and we have a really good supply and good movement on it,” he says. Martin sourced his organic turmeric from Hawaii for the first four years before partnering with Watsonville-based Whiskey Hill Farms in 2016.
